NBP re-launch Islamic banking



Karachi: National Bank of Pakistan has decided to re brand and  re-launch its Islamic banking after the gap of almost 4 years. NBP Islamic Banking re-launched under the new brand name, AITEMAAD,  means trust.
National bank open its Islamic banking branches during 2006 to 2009. NBP not able to focused on Islamic banking in last 4 years and no new Islamic banking branch added into the network, the number has not gone beyond 8 over the years.
  Now NBP make ambitious plan to expand its Islamic banking branch network. According to new plan within this calendar year, 17 new dedicated Islamic branches will be opened and active efforts will be made to increased the number of such branches to 100 over next three years.
 President and chief executive of NBP  Dr. Asif A. Brohi issue a special massage for bank employee. “ we strongly believe that the further growth in banking will be ushered by Shariah compliant banking. Which is also accepted as “Ethical Banking”, even by non-Muslims. NBP being the largest public sector commercial bank, and enjoying the confidence of masses and general public, is well placed to capitalize on the growth potential of Islamic banking.”  Dr. Asif A. Brohi added.
In Pakistan Islamic Banking growing very fast. But due to some misperceptions facing some hurdles. State Bank of Pakistan with Islamic Banks announced media awareness program.
Islamic Banking Department was established on 15th September, 2003 and has been entrusted with the task of promoting & developing the Shariah Compliant Islamic Banking as a parallel and compatible banking system in the country.
